BIBS is the independent, global Netball Supporters Association. The sports industry is seeing a shift towards recognising and listening more to their biggest stakeholders - fans. Football is already at that stage, and BIBS has been set up with advice from organisations within football.
As far as we know, BIBS is the first global supporters association of any sport outside football. Netball has a passionate fanbase who will now be more connected then ever and be able to be formally heard. We are working hard to cultivate relationships with netball organisations to create a positive and healthy dialogue between administrators and fans for the improvement of the game.
BIBS exists to grow, gather, and guide the netball supporter community in the following ways:
-
Grow - the visibility, influence, and recognition of supporters, which leads to growth of the game itself
-
Gather - fans together locally and globally to connect both online and in real life
-
Guide - the future of the sport by ensuring supporter voices are represented in decision rooms
BIBS is for all fans - and that includes whether you are a professional player, an umpire, coach or grassroots player, a parent on the sidelines or simply a fan.
WHY JOIN?
The more people who join BIBS, the stronger the collective supporter voice. Membership to BIBS will allow you to help shape the game.
As a BIBS member, you’ll be able to:
-
participate in online member meetings (association and/or sub committees)
-
submit agenda items for discussion
-
propose and second motions
-
vote on motions and decisions
-
attend in-person meet-ups with fellow supporters
-
connect with fellow fans locally
Our first BIBS in-person global club meet-up is scheduled to take place in Glasgow during the Commonwealth Games and will be a unique opportunity to meet fellow members from around the world, and have fun no matter which country you support, build real-life connections, and share in a moment that brings the global netball community together.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
BIBS membership is just £5.00 per year, to help towards the running of the association.
With transparency at the forefront, once payment transaction fees and taxes are subtracted, this will be used in the following ways:
1. technical development of the BIBS section of the website as needed,
2. online meeting software subscription as needed,
2. administration in the form of membership admin, meeting minutes
digital communications with members,
3. promotion of BIBS - content, marketing, photography, videography and ads,
4. host live events: pay for venue hire, activations, staff/volunteers and their expenses, and
5. meet with governing bodies and administrators on behalf of members.
No one is taking a salary or payment from BIBS, and if membership grows to a level that does require renumeration for administration time, it will go to a membership vote on how that could look.
GETTING STARTED
BIBS is managed by Planet Netball. By joining, you agree to Planet Netball’s Terms and Conditions, and also the BIBS Code of Conduct which can be found at checkout. You are joining an association designed for collaboration and respectful engagement, and you understand that BIBS activity and benefits may evolve as the association grows.
When you join, you’ll be asked to complete a short form which helps us understand our members better so we can serve both the global community and local ones. You’ll be asked for your general location (no full address required), basic demographic information, and your interests within netball.
