Kate Moloney crowned Netballer of the Year as global fan vote celebrates excellence

In a thrilling conclusion to 2025 and the inaugural Planet Netball Awards, fans from around the world have cast their votes and crowned Kate Moloney as the 2025 Planet Netballer of the Year — recognising her as the standout performer on the global stage this season. Moloney finished ahead of Melbourne Vixen and Australian Diamond team mate Kiera Austin, and Jamaica's Latanya Wilson to take top honours in the world’s first fan-voted, intercontinental netball awards.

Elsewhere in the major positional categories, Kiera Austin was recognised as Attacker of the Year, while Latanya Wilson claimed Defender of the Year honours. These results underscore the depth of talent at the elite level, with all three medal-placing athletes demonstrating elite output throughout the international calendar.
The awards also spotlighted runners-up and nominees across multiple positions and nations, reflecting the truly global nature of elite netball. Players from Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, South Africa, Namibia and England were voted for, illustrating the sport’s expanding footprint and passionate fan engagement.
